I was out of town.

David- Excellent and to the point. I posted a similar link to a page with further discussion about the book in my post. Without regard to the artistic debauchery of the theater ending, I do like the Christ like image. I think it's a constant struggle for those to follow Christ to truly give our lives over, though that is our core calling.

Robert - God has chosen to allow us to work our own way toward the end that God has in mind. Think of God as a master weaver who is so capable that even our choices may yet be woven into the pattern that God has in mind. Beyond that I would say that I'm not a pure Calvinist. I take scripture as a primary authority over doctrine, and I think there are a variety of view points such as liberation theology, process theology, emergent and missional church movements that give us a deeper understanding of God's activity than we have held in the past. Calvin wasn't so bad. He was yet a man and therefor at his base concerned more with his own desires for authenticity than God's will alone. Such is the life of a forgiven sinner. Here are some additional links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation_theology
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Process_theology
http://www.friendofmissional.org/
http://www.crossroad.to/News/Church/emergent.html
What say you to these things about who God is and how God works? Is God an active presence or an influential force. I say God is both. I guess these things also depend on where (or if) you think God is driving this bus that spins us through the ether. Love to hear your thoughts!Rev. From what I've read, this is inconsistent with the book. However, there is an alternate ending that apparently is more consistent with the book. Check it out.

http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/03/05/must-watch-i-am-legends-original-ending-this-is-amazing/David Snyderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12869167657728324570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7082723134662189476.post-34476716689698706442008-04-05T07:21:00.000-07:002008-04-05T07:21:00.000-07:00How do you respect the Calvinist tradition of Pres...How do you respect the Calvinist tradition of Presbyterianism without ending up with a divine puppet master?Robert Fischerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15576124960718643532noreply@blogger.com
